Slingshot records Shopify’s variant identifier when the shopper submits the form. Product titles, option names, and SKUs can change later, but the underlying identifier remains the match.
Check the original request
- Open Signups and find the shopper.
- Note the product, variant options, SKU, and submission time.
- Open the associated record in Notifications.
- Compare its product link and displayed options.
Check recent Shopify changes
Review whether anyone recently:
- renamed a product or variant;
- reused or changed a SKU;
- deleted and recreated variants;
- changed option ordering;
- duplicated a product;
- used an inventory app that remapped variants.
Deleting and recreating a variant produces a new Shopify identity even if its title and SKU look the same.
Storefront variant selectors
Custom themes can display one variant while submitting another. Run a new signup test for each option and confirm the selected variant in Signups.
If a live message clearly points to the wrong Shopify variant, paid-plan merchants should contact support before running further inventory tests. Include the signup time, notification time, expected SKU, actual SKU, and product URL.
